I don't know if that was the way the author's writing portrayed him or if that was Alex Kydd's narration but I'm leaning towards the narration. Cage comes across as an arrogant, self-centered dirty talking guy during most of the story but the chapters that are Cage's POV, Alex makes Cage into a slightly deeper more sincere guy with issues.

Amy Melissa Bentley did a good job, it's not that, it's just that Alex actually portrayed Gage in a completely different light, a much better light in my opinion.
